Various artists - Ùrachadh - This lovely CD released October 2010 features the music from a project which was put together for the Year of Culture 2007. The CD contains fifteen tracks from the show, performed by the same singers and instrumentalists from Caithness and Sutherland who brought the acclaimed show to Celtic Connections and numerous venues across the Highlands and Islands over the last three years, including the fringe of Mòd Ghallaibh 2010. The musicians, who are all from Sutherland and Caithness, are Catriona MacLeod (vocals, accordion and whistle), Carol-Anne Mackay (pipes, accordion and whistle), James Graham (vocals) Rhona Sutherland (guitar and fiddle) and James Ross (piano).
It was a particularly successful and important project for Sutherland and the Highlands and Islands bringing to life in a multi media show songs, tunes and poems local to the area, alongside sound clips and photos, portray the lives and history of the people of Dùthaich 'ic Aoidh and Assynt; with tales from locals, past and present. The show told the real story of the people of Dùthaich 'ic Aoidh (Mackay Country) and Assynt including personal accounts from the times of the Highland Clearances.
