    Rise & Fall o' Charlie

by Alan Reid and Rob van Sante
Rise & Fall o' Charlie: This CD charts in song the rise & fall of Prince Charles Edward Stuart (better known as Bonnie Prince Charlie) from his arrival as a 21 year old in the North West of Scotland  to raise an army and wrest the throne of Britain back to the Stuarts through to the crushing defeat of Culloden, his ultimate failure and death in exile.  Alan Reid and Rob Van Sante have put together an excellent CD with some great traditonal  songs and excellent ensemble of singers and musicians. The CD starts off with the rousing rallying call of 'Sound the Pibroch'. There a couple of Gaelic songs featuring Maeve Mackinnon including the lovely 'Oran Do Phriunnsa Tearlach' (Song for Prince Charles) and the powerful 'Mile Marbhphaisg Air An T-Saoghal' (A 1000 Curses on the World). The album finishes with the poignant Lady Nairne song "Will Ye No Come Back Again'.
Alan Reid and Rob van Sante with Maeve MacKinnon, Wendy Weatherby, Mike Katz, Alasdair White, Susan Miller and Ian Fairburn.
