    Farrar

    by Duncan Chisholm

The third solo CD from Duncan and it is another beauty. Gorgeous playing with a lovely tone and feel for the music, even his compositional skills are excellent. An album to savour.

Musicians: Duncan Chisholm (fiddle),  Phil Cunningham (piano, cittern, whistle, accordion), Kris Drever (guitar, vocals), Martin O'Neill (percussion), Tearlach MacFarlane (vocals) and Ross Hamilton (guitar, bass).

    Media Reviews

Scotland's great craftsman of the fiddle

Scotland's great craftsman of the fiddle, Chisholm delivers exquisite tone, technique and control, shaping these slow airs and song tunes, mostly of Gaelic provenance and many self-penned. There's tasteful, minimal accompaniment from Kris Drever, Phil Cunningham and others, and even when the tempo rises, as in 'young' Angus Grant's '250 To Vigo,' the expressive, emotive, confident and securely laid-back fiddle draws you inexorably in and creates a virtual Highland landscape. This gently understated album repays repeated listening...Norman Chalmers
