    Scottish Gaelic

Scottish GaelicScottish Gaelic is the old language of the Scots and is spoken by about 60,000 people in Scotland. Nowadays Gaelic is mainly spoken in the north west of the country and in the Western isles, but is becoming more popular as it gains recognition by the people and governments. Scottish Gaelic phrases and sayings are very popular and books written in Gaelic can be found in this section as well as song books and music CDs.

In terms of structure Scottish Gaelic uses 18 letters of the 26 in the English alphabet (there is no j,k, q, v, w, x, y, z and the h is only used to alter the sound of the preceding consonant).
