Riona Whyte - Bunachas: This is a lovely debut album from the 2001 Mod Gold Medallist Riona Whyte. It features a collection of her personal favourite traditional Gaelic songs. The album title is Gaelic for 'root/foundation/ancestry' and Riona from Morvern, a peninsula in south west Lochaber on the west coast of Scotland has included songs reflecting her connections to the area. She also has a fine array of guest musicians that compliment her delightful voice and make this a very interesting first album.
Riona Whyte (vocals), Mary Ann Kennedy (piano, clarsach, harmonium), Aaron Jones (guitar, bass), Nathan Jones (banjo, dobro), Gordon Gunn (fiddle, mandolin), Phil Cunningham (low whistle track 7), Nick Turner (bass track 4), Jock Turner (shaker track 4), Joy Dunlop, Nicola Pearson, Audrey Paterson, Murdo MacLeod, Ronnie Murray, Angus Smith, Creina Jackson, Mairi Jackson, Stuart Jackson, Alasdair Whyte, Megan Whyte (backing vocals).
