Gillie Mackenzie - Griais (Gree-ash): A collection of songs in Gaelic and English reflecting Gillie's life in Lewis and the Lothians. Gillie Mackenzie of singing sisters 'Mackenzie' has named her first solo album after the village in the Western Isles where she grew up. She chose this title because her music is so heavily influenced by the Gaelic songs, stories, landscape and culture of the people of Lewis. The CD comprises traditional and self-penned Gaelic (with a smattering of English) songs. She worked with a wonderful array of musicians in creating the album including Ewan MacPherson of Fribo on guitar (also producing), Alasdair White of the Battlefield Band on fiddle and whistle, Mhairi Hall on piano, James Mackintosh of Shooglenifty on percussion, Ailig Hunter on bass, Amy Geddes on viola.
