    Lost In This Song

    by Give Way

Give Way were formed in 1998, when the four talented young Johnson sisters  set up as a folk group.  They have gone from strength to strength with three albums behind them, numerous festival and television appearances plus a touring schedule which has taken them across the world. Fiona (fiddle, guitar, whistles, vocals), Kirsty (accordion, vocals), Amy (drums, percussion, vocals) and Mairi (keyboards, vocals).

Fiona's tunes feature in the instrumental sets, and there are contributions from composers Sandy Brechin, Phil Cunningham and Allan MacDonald.  Guest musicians are Ross Hamilton (bass, electric guitars), Phil Cunningham (whistle) and  Mairi Campbell, Robert McFall and Sua Lee (strings). The album was produced by Phil Cunningham.

    Media Reviews

'The Water Is Wide', the last track on an album that will sell by the lorry-load.

On tour in the US for the whole of April, the four Scots sisters have thrown off their precocious child folkie tag and are rapidly turning into a Scottish Corrs. Between them, the four young women play fiddle, accordion, guitar, keyboard, whistles, drums and percussion, while producer Phil Cunningham brings in electric guitar/bass, and adds a touch of the McFalls' string sound and his own whistle to 'The Water Is Wide', the last track on an album that will sell by the lorry-load.....Norman Chalmers.

Count me in as Giveway's newest fan. I just heard them in concert in Asheville North Carolina, USA. I purchased all three of their CD's. Wow! I am just blown away. Also I met all 4 girls. They couldn't have been more gracious or nicer.
