A family Band originally from Caithness. Jim Mackay's Dance Band has been on the go since 1957. Taking not so many shapes and forms, Jim has a reputation of keeping the same line up for as long as he could. The experience of which helping him for the following that he has today.
JIM MACKAY : The Leader of the band. Jim now plays one of the late Will Starrs accordions, even though it says Starr down the front of the accordion it is still a Shand Morino.
NICK MACKAY: 2nd accordion player. Nick is Jim's brother. They have played together since the start except for a period where Nick lived in Australia and New Zealand for a few years. Nick plays a 5 row Hohner Riviera, with his accordion being fully "midi'd, part of his job in the band is to lead the modern dances such as quicksteps, slow foxtrots and slow/modern waltzes.
TOM MACKAY: Drummer. Tom is Jim's son He joined the band on the 28th February 1975.
GRAEME MACKAY: 3rd accordion player. Graeme is Toms son. Graeme has been playing with the band for 6 years. Graeme has also been the senior Scottish champion at Musselburgh 2002 and won many button box trophies.
STEPHEN MACKAY: Fiddle player. Stephen is Graeme's brother, Toms son and Jims Grandson. He has played with the band for 6 years but played with them unofficially for a few years before that.
