World Pipe Band Championships

Each year at the World Pipe Band Championships, the people of Glasgow have the chance on  to catch some of the finest pipe bands from across the world as they muster to take part in the ultimate ‘Battle of the Bands’ – the World Pipe Band Championships at Glasgow Green.

The event, organised by Glasgow City Council and the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association has been associated with the city since 1948 and each year attracts around 40,000 spectators to Glasgow Green for the competition which sees an international line-up of pipe bands challenging for the coveted world championship. They come to see around 8,000 musicians from take part in over 200 bands, many of whom have travelled to Glasgow from all over the world.
