Feis Rois – 21 years and counting (DVD): Throughout 2007, an impressive range of events took place to celebrate 21 years of Fèis Rois – the largest of Scotland’s Fèisean. This documentary and concert DVD showcases a very special year and features highlights from the annual work of Fèis Rois, including community classes, the Traditional Music in Schools programme, residential Fèisean, the Ceilidh Trail and more. The DVD also shows the 21st anniversary concert at Celtic Connections. As ever, the young participants take centre stage, ably supported by guest appearances from some of Scotland’s finest musicians. such as Phil Cunningham, Donald Shaw, Calum MacDonald, Alison Kinnaird, Charlie McKerron and Eilidh Mackenzie.
Fèis is the Gaelic word for festival or feast and Rois is Gaelic for Ross-shire, the home area in which they are based.. Over the past 25 years the word "Fèis" has become synonymous with the Fèisean movement, a group of Gaelic arts tuition festivals, mainly for young people, which now take place throughout Scotland.
