The Lang Road Doon
by
Bruce Mainland
Bruce Mainland has a pleasant voice and a 'way' with a song. His debut CD includes songs by Stan Rogers (Scarborough Settler's Lament), Robert Burns (Gowden Locks o' Anna), Ian Mackintosh (I Wish I was in Glasgow). The title track was written by Malinky's Steve Byrne. A favourite, and one which lingers in the mind is the perfectly charming 'The Penny Whistle', written by Bruce himself with words by Orkney composer Ali Windwick.
