Accordion Music CDs The accordion is among the most popular instruments associated with Scottish music. Accordion music repertoire borrows from other Scottish traditions such as fiddle and bagpipe music but many tunes have been composed especially for the instrument. In Scottish music we have two kinds of accordion: the piano accordion and the button-keyed accordion (sometimes known as the melodeon). Probably the most famous of all Scottish accordion players was the late Sir Jimmy Shand OBE (1908-2001), who was largely responsible for the growing popularity of accordion and accordion music in the 20th century.
